Samsung Refrigerator Class Action Lawsuit Complaint Filed Over Alleged Frozen Coil Defect

Samsung Refrigerator Owners File Class Action Lawsuit Complaint Against Samsung Over Alleged Defect That Causes Refrigerator Coils To Freeze Over.

A class action lawsuit has been filed against Samsung Electronics America, Inc. and Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. (hereafter “Samsung” or “Defendants”) in the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey (styled Jeff Weske, Jo Anna Frager and Darryl Myhre v. Samsung Electronics America, Inc. and Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd., Civil Action Case No. 2:10-cv-04811-WJM -MF) alleging, among other things, that Samsung sold refrigerators containing a defect that causes the refrigerators’ coils to freeze over, resulting in the failure of the refrigerator to cool, which has caused consumers to suffer damages for lost groceries, spoilage and repairs, according to class action lawsuit news reports.

The Samsung refrigerator class action lawsuit complaint reportedly alleges that certain Samsung French door, side-by-side and bottom freezer refrigerators (model numbers RF266AASH, RS263BBWP, RB1955SH, RS2533SW, RS267LASH, RS267TDRS, RS2630WW) the refrigerators are designed and manufactured with heated coils that are intended to prevent excess frost from developing in the back of the machine, but instead of preventing frost, the coils allegedly allow frost and ice to build up in the refrigerators until the ice clogs and/or disables the machine’s fans, making it impossible for the fans to work to keep the machine cool.

The Samsung refrigerator coil class action lawsuit complaint is reportedly brought on behalf of the following putative class members, unless otherwise excluded:

All persons or entities residing in the United States who own, or have owned, Samsung refrigerator models RF266AASH, RS263BBWP, RB1955SH, RS2533SW, RS267LASH, RS267TDRS, RS2630WW and/or any other Samsung refrigerator model containing a defect that causes the refrigerator’s coils to ice over and the refrigerator to stop cooling.

I have a Samsung RS263TDBP/XAA and after only a few years it is making serious noises. Samsung’s website says to get maintenance performed, however this is ridiculous. It costs $165 just for them to come out and look at it. My last fridge lasted 8 years, and I only upgraded because I wanted a “quality” fridge that would last a long time in our new home.

    • Angela Berry August 6, 2014, 10:25 am

Same issues with the coils and fridge side not working! This was filed 4 years ago, is the suit still active? If so, where do we add ourselves? Our model number is RS265TDRS/XAA bought 2011.

  • Brij Lal June 30, 2014, 9:40 pm

Please include me in the class action lawsuit! I have had it! The expensive fridge RS267TDRS was only 2 yrs when the problems started. I have to dump out all my ices once a week because it makes too much ice and gets backed up, no ice will come out. I had to dump couple of hundred dollars vegetables & other edibles stored in the Fruit & vegetable drawer and Coolselect Zone because suddenly they froze completely. Last week the Fridge stopped working completely and everything worth hundreds of dollars had to be thrown. Sears service technician is scheduled to come this Thursday. I have to spend $40 every three months since I bought this unit for water filter because the water dispenser does not work without water filter. The product has been a nightmare.

  • Omar V. June 30, 2014, 11:07 pm

I own the Model: RS263TDRS and in the three years that I have had this fridge, I have had to defrost the fridge side due to ice buildup on the vents and the fan motor stops running. Same problem that all are reporting here.

please add me to your class action law suite

I bought my fridge when I moved into my house and it’s been nothing but trouble. It’s broken down three times. And the ice maker has stopped. Not very happy with this product.

  • kurtis July 6, 2014, 12:18 pm

have the exact same issue. for the amount of money we have paid for this aggravating piece of garbage… this is ridiculous. i, too have had it repaired once by a guy that took extra time to show me how to fix it, i think he knew it would happen again.

what do i have to do to get added to any lawsuit about this thing?

  • Jan Beyer July 6, 2014, 12:46 pm

I would like to be added to the lawsuit as well. We bought the Model RS263TDBP/XAA less than 2 years ago and have run into the same problem as Omar V. (June 30, 2014). Last week the fan came on on the fridge side and made this horrible noise. I though it was going to fall off. Then I started noticing that the fridge was not very cool and my milk was starting to spoil faster than it should. My husband started reading on what the issue might be and came upon this lawsuit and the issues with this fridge. We have had to defrost the coils on the fridge side a couple of times now. Luckily we have another fridge in the garage in which we can transfer spoil able foods. We are definitely interested to find out what can be done about this as we saved up to buy a nice fridge and it wasn’t cheap.

My samsung refrigerator/freezer RS261MDBP side by side, freezer side freezes and the refrigerator side does not work.

  • Judy Massey July 7, 2014, 8:14 am

What can be done if there is a class suite against samsung already?

  • H. Hakim July 7, 2014, 12:23 pm

I would like to be added to class action law suit as well.
I own a Samsung Refrigerator Model #RS257BARB/XAA. I have had the same experience as everyone else that has posted. It ices up, and I can’t close the door. I’ve spent a great deal of money on repairs. But it’s just a badly engineered product. Samsung knows their product is sub-standard, yet they have taken no steps to fix the problem.
This was a very expensive refrigerator. And it’s been a very expensive experience.

  • Muhannad kanbour July 7, 2014, 2:57 pm

Please add me to the list

I have a RF263BEAEBC. Only 5 mths out of warranty from Feb 2014.
Coils are totally frozen over and fan stopped cooling. Great design. Add me please to the C.A. Lawsuit.

Have a Samsung Model RS2530BBP/XAA and hate it. The refrigerator does not defrost and the coils get very very hot in middle bar and on left outside edge. The refrigerator is a few years old and has been trouble from day one. If this thing burns house down I will be contacting Samsung for damages. Add me.

  • Larry Corbett July 9, 2014, 9:01 pm

My samsung refrigerator/freezer RS261MDBP side by side, freezer side freezes and the refrigerator side does not work.

    • Edwin July 29, 2014, 10:19 pm

I have the same problem as well for same model RS261MDP/XAA

  • Larry Corbett July 9, 2014, 9:06 pm

I bought another Refrigerator but not Samsung at Lowes. The old one My Samsung refrigerator/freezer RS261MDBP side by side, freezer side freezes and the refrigerator side does not work. I gave it to my Daughter to use thereezer side. I had to defrost the Refrigerator every other week to use the Refrigerator side.

  • Susan Stelzner July 10, 2014, 2:56 am

Add me too! I read about this before mine actually malfunctioned. I didn’t understand why frost was forming in my freezer and then had actually icecicles hanging from the top. I was looking to find out how to defrost it and came upon this website. I rushed to remove my stuff and put it in my neighbors garage because I was afraid the same would happen to me. I got down to a point where not everything would fit into his freezer and was waiting for my other neighbor to get home so I could put it in hers. Within a matter of hours, the fan made a really loud rattling noise and poof, it died. The coils were frozen so solid that it took an entire day to defrost. The ice clogged it up so bad that when the fan tried to work it couldn’t move and blew up the circuit board. After all of this happened, it occured to me that it also had some of these tell-tale signs that mine was defective. Last year, the ice maker stopped working. I tried and tried to fix it, but finally gave up. Then one night out of the blue, I heard the ice drop! It worked on and off after that for a while, then finally quit.

To make matters much worse, my friend who does refrigerator repairs told me that he couldn’t fix it without it happening again and that he had a hard time even getting the parts for them. He said that several of his other friends actually stopped offering fixes for Samsung refrigerators period because customers would complain that it happened over and over and they were getting the heat for it. I decided to search myself for the parts and it’s amazing how difficult it was to find them and anyone that had them in stock. Now I’m waiting on a pcb board to come in the mail to fix a fridge I’m not sure will even work for long before it breaks again. I will have to walk to my neighbors to get yogurt for up to a week! I am also living out of a cooler for my essentials. It’s awfully hard bc I constantly think of something else I need to have right on hand without having to worry if the neighbors had gone to bed already.

Huge dissapointment. Samsung should be ashamed of this mistake and be working to fix issues that may lead to their brand having irreputable damages. I just have to say they are lucky they build other things so well because it seems they are already losing market share based on my friend’s business knowledge. I am spreading it to everyone I know. Samsung, stick to phones etc. Get out of the refrigerator business!!

Good luck to everyone. I feel your pain!!!

  • Rebecca Mineo July 10, 2014, 5:03 pm

Please add us to the suit. Ours is Model RS261MDRS, only purchased in November, so only 9 MONTHS OLD. The freezer and fridge went out this weekend….a Samsung repairman came out and said he couldn’t figure out what made it stop working, but got it working again. Well, LESS THAN 24 hours after it was “fixed” it’s broke again and all of our groceries we got last night after the fridge was working again and we replaced the groceries we lost the first time are going to be a waste again! Even when they do get it fixed again, based on everyone elses experiences and the fact that it broke again in less that 24 hours…it’s just going to keep doing this and we’re going to keep loosing lots of MONEY replacing food and valuable time waiting for repairmen!!

  • Audrey Young July 11, 2014, 12:09 pm

I too have purchased the twin refrigerator door and bottom freezer samsung appliance and have the same problem. What I noticed is that the fan will begin to make this horribly loud noise and can only be stopped if the doors are open. Soon to follow the refrigerator will stop cooling all together causing my food to spoil and groceries lost. I have called a service man to have the refrigerator fixed and within 3 to 4 months the refrigerator has gone back out again. I too would like to be added to this lawsuit. I paid at least $1200 dollars for the device from Lowe’s and I am not very happy with this experience.

  • Jackie Solley July 11, 2014, 3:54 pm

Had repairman out to day for 3hours to remove ice from defroster and refrig walls and remove whole inside of back wall to get to ice on coils no refrig for a week. Also lost all frozen foods And fresh foods. Add me to the list.

  • Fidel Mendez July 12, 2014, 9:21 am

i have a samsung RS261 MDRS that continues to freeze. Please add me to the class action lawsuit. it is only 2 years old and we have had to defrost it monthly..

    thank you

  • charlotte macdonald July 12, 2014, 12:58 pm

We bought a Samsung french door refrigerator with a bottom freezer in Feb. of 2012. The ice maker would sometimes work well, then not at all. There were problems with water leaking on the floor as well. Earlier this year the freezer froze up on the top drawer. We had a repair person come out she defrosted the freezer. It worked better for awhile, then it happened again. Then the freezer quit freezing , and the ice maker would only give us a few cubes a day, if we were lucky. We tried to get the repairman to come back, and waited weeks. At last we got someone from another company to come. It would cost more to repair this expensive piece of junk that it is worth….. very possible that there would be more problems. My dream refrigerator is a night mare ! Add me to your law suit.

  • Kristine July 13, 2014, 10:13 am

Please add me to the list. Defrosting today!!!!

  • D Gray July 13, 2014, 10:47 am

Please add model number RS277acbp to the list. I have to defrost ours due to it freezing up. Can’t find a repairman to fix it. No one seems to know how. We have lost food and takes time to defrost it manually.

  • Liz Cox July 14, 2014, 1:24 pm

I have a Samsung model #rb217abpn/xaa. of course as soon as the warranty expired it started leaking under the drawers in the refrigerator. When I tried looking up what the problem may be, I found that there were many other people having the same problem and to find that this model is discontinued. Also it is very difficult to fix the issue on your own! What a disgrace and I thought Samsung name had a great reputation.
I too would like to be In the Class Action Suit!

  • Michael L. Allen July 14, 2014, 2:43 pm

Would like to be part of this class action lawsuit, My Mom Has This exact problem with her Samsung Refrigerator Model Number RFG295AARS/XAA.Cooling fan freeze up freezer works but refrigerator side does not cool.ice building up on fan not allowing it to function. My Mom thought it would last a lot longer .

  • Carolyn smith July 15, 2014, 8:04 am

We are experiencing the same problems as above have described we have a French door 266ADRS/XAA. Same defrost problem, tech. Looked at it said it was a fan problem charge $230.00 , after he left I looked on line at problem causes and watched a video on repairing the refrig , I don’t think after reading about the lawsuit it’s the fan problem that is costing me $230.00 to replace, please add me to this lawsuit, I also own a samsung stove and microwave , microwave has already been repaired cost $200.00 plus , I am waiting for the stove to also to have problems. I will never buy another SAMSUNG product again. The tech tells me samsung makes a lot of products under different names. These products were all bought from LOWES .

  • Judi Baskett July 17, 2014, 2:39 am

We have a Samsung model RB215LABP with a bottom freezer and have had nothing but trouble with it. Ice forms inside the refrigerator and water leaks into and under the crisper drawers. Neither the refrigerator or freezer keep the food cold. We’ve thawed it out several times and have replaced the fan but it continues to have the same problems. Please add me to the law suit.

  • Avis Mitchell July 18, 2014, 6:33 pm

I purchased a Samsung refrigerator in December 2013 RS265TDBP from Lowe’s. Around March 2014 the fridge stopped cooling and freezer not freezing.I contacted Samsung and was told the warranty had expired and they could not help me.However, they tried to sell me and extended warranty for $462.00.

  • Daniel Howell July 19, 2014, 3:34 pm

Add me to the list we have a Samsung RS265TDRS. Same problem as everyone else. Fridge not cooling. The coils are a solid block of ice.

  • Richard Thomas July 20, 2014, 7:59 am

My Samsung refrigerator evaporator freezes up, less than two years old, have to defrost it every other month. I replaced defrost heating element six months ago, still ices up.

  • Yu ng July 20, 2014, 9:39 am

Mine got the same problem 🙁

  • Amanda July 20, 2014, 12:00 pm

we bought a samsung fridge stove and dishwasher and 2011, the fridge we needed repairs 2 or 3 and finally after still having problems the technician deemed it irreparable, luckily or thankfully we purchased the extended warranty and Samsung replaced the fridge free of charge with an rfg297. the new fridge was delivered in May of 2013, and we couldn’t afford to again take out an extended warranty so we took the chances that we just got a bad one first time around and hope that this one would last a little longer, however a few months after we got it we had to have a technician out because the fridge was freezing , detected whatever he need it to do and it worked fine until this week and its doing it again it’s not cooling anything and there’s water at the bottom of the fridge the freezer works fine. We are two months past our year warranty that comes from the manufacture and Samsung won’t do anything about it. Our stove we’ve had problems with a sense they won the elements of had to be replaced the oven doesn’t hate to the temperature that it says it does they’ve been out to fix it half a dozen times and it still doesn’t work in the dishwasher doesn’t clean dishes. I am comteplating whether we just eat our losses and do what we can do to buy a whole new fridge stove and dishwasher from another company because Samsung clearly sucks or spend the money to fix the fridge and hope that it doesn’t cost us anymore down the road. This is frustrating, over $5000 on new appliances and they don’t work. I wish we stuck with our gut instincts and didn’t let the sales man talk us into buying Samsung. I guess this is why they always have good deals, they know they’ll be making money in repair costs. I understand that sometimes you just get a lemon, but to have 4 appliances (and 2cell phones) all under 5 years old either need constant repairs or to be replaced is just wrong and Samsung should start stepping up and standing behind their products and take care of their customers.

  • P. Chan July 21, 2014, 3:10 pm

RF263AERS bought from Lowes in 2011 has given us so much grief. Finally I’ve discovered a trick that seems to work for me to stop the freezing up of evaporator fan: set frig temperature warmer (so not coldest setting) however it substitutes in a different problem which is more manageable: water pools under the deli tray and starts to leak out when it finally overflows. This is half hour cleanup every couple months rather than defrosting and losing food every 6 months or so.

  • vernon July 22, 2014, 1:41 pm

i bought my refrigerator 3 years ago model no. rf263aebp after the first year i had a service man come out because of ice build up and freezer not working the service man used a hair dryer it worked for a while now it is freezing up every couple weeks i want to be added to the lawsuit against samsung how can they sell such expensive junk.

  • Angie Moncada July 22, 2014, 6:17 pm

Please add me to the list. It’s at the point where we are having to defrost it every other week. Such a disappointment.

  • Deb July 22, 2014, 8:06 pm

This is the second summer in a row that I’ve had to take the fridge apart to melt the fan and other components behind the wall. Thankfully there was a youtube video that showed me step by step so didn’t pay a dime. But the time it took to take apart thawed and put back together. Ridiculous!!!!!!! Add me to class action suit

I have a Samsung French door refrigerator with bottom freezer. It freezes up every couple of months and has been doing so since I bought it about 2 years ago. It is model No: RFG29PHDRS

  • Laura Sparks July 23, 2014, 10:04 am

My fridge did the same noise fan thing last night. Read about the icing up problem and defrosting the unit. Took all food out and transferred to deep freeze or ice chests and unplugged the fridge. This morning plugged back in. Noise is gone and fridge is now cooling.

You may add me to the lawsuit if you wish.

Model number. RS263TDBP/XAA. Freezer on left side, fridge on right. Apparantly it doesn’t just happen on freezer on bottom models.

  • Windy Davis July 25, 2014, 10:49 am

Please add me as well. We bought our Samsung Refridgerator Model RF265ABBP in November of 2008. Worked fine until 2 years ago the coils starting freezing and every 6 months has to be worked on or defrost.

I am disappointed, because this was a very expensive purchase and should have lasted longer than this.
    Thanks

  • Heather Coffell July 26, 2014, 12:44 pm

Please add me to classaction suit as well, i purchased a RB195 model peice of garbage, freezes the crispers and the entire bottom of the fridge.
    Very unhappy with this product.

  • Judy Massey July 26, 2014, 8:34 pm

I still haven’t heard anything about my samsung refrigerator/side byside freezer that is not working properly right now. What do I need to do.
    .

  • Amy Caperello July 27, 2014, 4:53 am

Please add me as well. Our RF267AEPN French Door is 4 years old. At 3, it was making horrible noises, then the coils froze, and we lost all our food. Called a repairman out-$267 to replace the Evap. Fan Motor. Six months later, same thing happened. Five months after that, it’s happened again. We do know now how to take the panel off and defrost it without calling someone out, but I do not want to go through the huge expense of food spoilage, and the time it takes to defrost every few months! I put in a complaint on Consumer Affairs website, and wrote to the CA Atty General Harris…waiting to hear back. This is unacceptable, and we need to make more noise, people!!

  • Peter Stamper July 27, 2014, 1:55 pm

I would like to be part of this lawsuit as well. Have had service and nothing was done except to reset the machine which did not stop the problem.

  • Elna Joseph July 28, 2014, 5:24 am

Model RS263TDBP, is freezing up every month now. The refrigerator is only 3 years old. purchased because it was well rated in CR and nice features. Very disappointed.

  • Donna Campbell July 28, 2014, 8:15 am

Add me to your law suit. I have had nothing but problems with the ice maker and water under the crisper.

  • John A. Martin July 28, 2014, 2:39 pm

We purchased the Samsung Model #RF267ABBP/XAA in September of 2009. We purchased an extra 4 year service contract from Sears; however, after that four year service contract expired, we have had nothing but problems with the ice build up on the coils and the fan making a loud noise. Have had to have it repaired once in the past year and have a repairman coming Wednesday to unfreeeze the coils again. Only thing we could do is empty the refrigerator to defrost — losing all our food. Also, the ice maker had to be replaced because a small spring on the ice door broke. Flimsy construction. These items have cost us an extra $360.00 over the past year and a few months. Would never purchase a Samsung product again!!

  • Traci Voelker July 28, 2014, 2:54 pm

We too have a samsung side by side that is constantly freezing over in the back panel of the freezer which then in turn freezes the fan which supplies cold air to the fridge. We were told it was the heater coil and had that replaced but every week we are having to manually defrost the freezer cause it freezes over and stops cooling.

  • LAWRENCE GORDON July 29, 2014, 7:29 am

Bought Samsung french door refrigerator (RF266) a few years ago — the last couple years have had major icing up problems resulting in forming a cake of ice around the circulating fan and clogging up most circulation vents — when this happens the refrigerator works over time trying to maintain the temperature setting — to “de-ice” I pry off the back panel which is frozen solid to the fan, tubing, wiring, etc, I then defrost the ice with a hair dryer — this process takes at least an hour, including transferring food to coolers — I now go through this process every month — I would like to be part of the class action law suit — any product recall possible from Samsung

  • Michael Strickler July 29, 2014, 2:14 pm

i have the Samsung model number RF217ACBP, that i bought from Lowes about 3 years ago.. i have had a service repair man look at the fridge because of water leaking into the drawers.. now the evaporator keeps freezing up, which the temp went from 38 degrees to 60 over night, now i had to THROW AWAY almost everything because it went bad. i called Samsung and they gave me the run around and told me that i could have another service man come out and look, which is another $200.00… why should i nor anyone else have to pay for this again? you buy a fridge over $1000.00 you should not have any problem with them in the first 5 years… i would like to be part of the class acting lawsuit also. Everyone need to have a parts, labor and food reimbursement, because this is a problem that Samsung is aware of and is doing to the looks of it nothing…

    Thanks
    Michael

  • Edwin July 29, 2014, 9:49 pm

I’m experience the same problem the refrigerator has had problems since I purchased it RS261MDP/XAA I see someone else has the exact, problem with same fridge model please add me to lawsuit

  • Ronald Kleibrink July 30, 2014, 10:56 am

I have a Samsung RS255BASB that I bought in 2006. It freezes on the refrigerator side. The second time I had it serviced, the guy showed me how to defrost it. Every 3 to 4 months, I spend an entire day defrosting it.
Please add me to the class action law suit.

  • R Haehnel August 1, 2014, 9:39 am

Model rs 261 what a piece of junk, had a 20 year old fridge worked great decided to go with new energy efficient samsung, nothing but problems, Can’t believe Sears, Home Depot, Lowes would still be selling these products!

  • Joy August 1, 2014, 9:14 pm

The Samsung RS261M** has an issue where if you push the two leftmost buttons at the same time you’ll stop it from working. You’ll see the indicator lights moving up and down. Push and hold those two buttons again for three seconds and it’ll reset.

    Hope this helps someone else.

  • Leanna Ramey August 3, 2014, 8:59 am

Please add me to lawsuit. Have problems with defrost on Samsung side by side

  • Michelle Gieng August 3, 2014, 1:26 pm

Please add me to your class action lawsuit!!!!! I have had to repair it 2 times now in less than 1 month!!! Tell me how can enroll in the class action lawsuit… Please!!!!

  • Armando August 3, 2014, 6:05 pm

Please add me in to the lawsuit. After (1) year I started to have problems. I’ve had the repair man come out twice for the fan problem. I have a RS267TDRS/XAA. The water line in the back of the fridge now, rattles hard when filling a cup of water. One problem after another. I have (4) toddlers and had to buy a “basic” fridge as a secondary backup to the fridge that will soon expire on its own. Its an awful feeling to walk past that Samsung fridge daily.

    Thanks, Armando

  • Enrique Alvarado August 4, 2014, 12:32 pm

I purchased the RS267TDPN model in 2011 and have also had problems with the freezer side. In this last case the freezer temp varied between 30-45 degrees and wouldnt lower. I took the bottom freezer side plastic panel to view the Evap assembly and noted that the wires for the sensor (white wire) and Evap Defrost coil (brown wire) were burnt. I called Samsung late July 2014 with complaint and they assigned a tech to call me for additional details. He stated that those parts were no longer covered by the standard warranty. At this point it looks like Im on my own unless Im ready to pay the repair cost for a problem that I see as a Samsung defect issue. Please add me to your list!

  • Beth Tiller August 4, 2014, 8:39 pm

Add me to the class action suit. I have been through the problems listed.

  • Laura Niebauer August 4, 2014, 11:17 pm

I own a Samsung side by side model RS263TDWP refrigerator and have owned it for 3 years 8 months. The noise from the fan hitting the ice built up in the compartment is very annoying. The water drains down creating more ice build up on the outside of the back panel and you will also find mold on it. There is a large pool of water sitting on the bottom under the drawer that also holds a film of mold if you don’t clean it daily. The water leaked out and damaged my wood floors, which I had to have repaired because I didn’t know there was water sitting underneath the fridge. Many repairs were done to bandage the problem. Deicing and cleaning the fridge frequently. The $100’s of dollars of food gone bad because of the uneven and even warm temperature located in the top right side all the way to the back. I spoke to Samsung and asked if their quality control dept was checking on this problem. I was advised the don’t have a quality control dept. Maybe Samsung should!
Please include me in the class action lawsuit. My first samsung television broke six months after the purchase date and they wouldn’t take care of it because it was covered for 90 days parts. I should of learned my lesson back then. Very dissatisfied!

My Samsung model RS265TDBP/XXA 01. Does exactly what other’s describle. Freezer works refrigerator doesn’t. It is two years into it’s Lowes andvantage 4 year warranty, so of course I can’t touch it as it’s warranty would void! The 1st repairman, blamed it on my room temperature. Meanwhile I’ve been buying my fresh food to eat up daily, 65 F. is not a safe way to store food, it has been 3 weeks and in 5 more days a repairman will show up. I still have two more years warranty from Lowes, however I have to go with out fresh refrigerated foods until the third repairman says he can’t fix it? look it up online!

RS267LASH has been nothing but problems and expenses. Please add me to the class action suit.

  • Kunal August 6, 2014, 3:29 pm

Hello, Please add me to the lawsuit as well. I purchased RS263TDRS & in about 3 years I am having issues. Very disappointed with this product – Samsung needs to have a recall for this product. Called a technician & will be paying so much to fix it.

  • Sandra Selvon-Semin August 7, 2014, 7:04 pm

We had the same problem a year or two with that fridge. It is fixed now but so many more problems since – a whole new panel and the ice maker is the worst yet.
    Add me to your lawsuit.

  • Theresa Wells August 8, 2014, 2:50 pm

My ice maker has been replaced 3 times. The replacement ice maker I have now only works part time. When the weather gets up in the 80’s to 90’s the ice maker stops working.
I purchased a stainless steel model. What a joke. It is not made with stainless steel. It some type of material that looks like stainless steel. The front of my refrigerator is so discolored. Within the first month after purchasing the refrigerator I had the ice maker breakdown and the stainless steel started to dingy and had streaks all through it. It looks 50 years old. What a waste of good money.
The temperature of both my refrigerator and freezer never seem cold enough.
You can add me to the list for the Class Action Law Suit against Samsung.
I should have bought the LG refrigerator like I wanted to. The salesman at Airport Appliance recommended the Samsung instead. What a joke.

    Model RF266AEBP
Purchased unit in December of 2010. Fall of 2013 fan got stuck on frozen ice and had to dismantle entire inside of fridge, including rear inside panel in order to melt ice accumulation.
August 2014: replaced freezer seal because frost and ice was building up around door, causing it to not close all the way. Turns out we didn’t need to purchase a new seal as ice once again accumulated around the fan and the inside back panel. Luckily I was home when the loud buzzing started. If we had been on vacation the unit probably would have overheated and/or started a fire.
Come on Samsung, this unit cost $1500.00. Do we have to drag our antique 1990 Frigidaire up out of the garage in order to keep our food cold/frozen and not be fearful of it catching on fire?

  • Richardson August 8, 2014, 5:41 pm

correction: our Frigidaire was purchased in 1984 — and it never gave us problems like this.

  • Pradeep Yelisetti August 8, 2014, 11:33 pm

Please add us to the class action law suit. MY fridge is 5 years old and have the same problem now. Ice got clogged up the evaporator coil and do not cool on the fridge side.

  • Ron Garkey August 9, 2014, 1:08 pm

Samsung RF26F I have the same problem with this unit Please add me to class action lawsuit. This is a very bad design problem. Have to spend a whole day to get all of ice off coils

  • Jen August 10, 2014, 12:45 pm

My refrigerator (RF217ACPN) has the same problem. Please include me into this class action.

2 weeks ago went to pour milk into cereal and it came out in chunks. A whole weeks fresh groceries spoiled with hot refrigerator! Our RS263TDRS Stainless Steel French Door fridge was purchased in 2011. Freezer side cold. Fridge side no longer cooling.

Phoned Samsung and they said no longer under warranty, sorry. I kept manual and emailed them that this fridge actually has a 5 year parts and labour on evaporator, condenser, tubing and fan.

Customer service terrible. Told someone would get back to me. I had over 6 phone calls before given any consultation on how matter would be settled. A week later I was told by a Samsung representative named Ebony that “Samsung would take care of everything, parts and labour.” I asked her for confirmation of that twice so there was no confusion. I was told a local repair technician dealing with Samsung would call me. Again 24 hours. Nothing. I called technician. Told me they were too busy and would be 10 days before they could send someone out. I called Samsung back and spoke my mind. How’s a family of 5 supposed to function in the heat of summer without a fridge? 10 minutes later technician calls back. Next day came. Told Samsung made error and only parts covered. I had to pay $175 for 50 minutes to change a “clip.”

What I learned is that ice build up on the fridge evaporator. This causes the fan to stop working and thus fridge heats up. Technician was careful not to say fridge defective but that Samsung just refining design.

My opinion this is a design defect and part and labour should be covered by Samsung.

I wasn’t about to have it out with technician. Thankful to have fridge working again.

Told loud fan noise causes by ice caught in fan. Solution is to empty fridge and freezer, unplug, open doors and defrost for 4 days. Gee, isn’t that convenient for families?! Ugh.

  • Tran K. August 12, 2014, 11:48 am

I am having the same issues. What is the next steps?

  • Maria T Luna August 13, 2014, 7:54 am

Please include me in the class action. I am having the same issues with my refrigerator model RS263TDRS. Thanks

  • LMO August 13, 2014, 7:10 pm

I have model RF217ACBP which had water in the ice bins due to coils freezing over. Samsung sent out techs to replace many parts on 12/31/13.
Today 8/13/14 the same issue is back. Just spent 2hours on the phone trying to schedule another appointment for repair. Don’t know what now. It’s obviously defective. When do they replace units?

  • Veronica August 14, 2014, 6:10 am

If this lawsuit is still effective, please add me to your list. I am having the same issues with my refrigerator after 1 1/2 years and the retailer tells me to buy extended warranties so that they can repair a refrigerator that obviously has engineering issues. The first repair man informed me of this issue when asked what was wrong with it and the last guy came with a hair dryer to melt all the ice build up. That is not normal. How is Samsung getting away with this?

  • DAVID WILLIAMS August 14, 2014, 12:16 pm

I HAVE A SAMSUNG RS2630SH AND IT FREEZES UP CONSTANTLY
WE HAVE TO DEFROST ABOUT EVERY 2-3 MONTHS AND CONTINUES TO FREEZE UP.

  • Anthony Rice August 14, 2014, 9:46 pm

I have a Samsung RS265TDRS/XAA 01 Purchased in Feb 2012. Same problem with the fan on the refrigerator side. Count me in!

  • Wang-Ming Chen August 16, 2014, 4:11 pm

Same problem with my Samsung RS265TDRS/XAA.
Starting with fan noise, then I had to remove the back panel
to clean the ice out. Then it failed again after several months.
Now it happened more frequently, about every month. I tried
to replace the heater, but the original part: DA47-00322B
is not available, Samsung has replacement part DA47-00322J
which uses two connectors instead of one, that does not fit at all.

  • Ron Scopel August 17, 2014, 1:45 pm

I have model # RF263AEPN. Within two years it stopped working, it simply froze. I paid to have it repaired and now I have the same problem again. I contacted Samsung…what a joke! they told me it was my problem and they simply don’t care since it is out of warranty and nothing they can do about it! please include me in any class action. I will never buy another Samsung product again!!!!

  • ernesto August 18, 2014, 1:40 pm

I also , have the same issue and I would like to be added to this law suit as well.

  • James Chang August 18, 2014, 10:32 pm

I have model RS261MDWP less than 18 months with coils freeze problem and please add me to the list.

  • Philip J. Rosch August 19, 2014, 5:34 am

I’ve got an RF266AE and have had the freezing problem since I bought it in March of 2011. I wrapped a #12 copper wire around the defrost coil and stuck the end 3″ into the drain hole to see if that helps keep the ice from forming. Please add me to the lawsuit. Samsung should step up.

  • Sharon Lambert August 19, 2014, 1:26 pm

We are having the same problem with our Samsung french door refrigerator. It is only 4 years old and stopped cooling a couple days ago. Samsung wants to charge us $90 just to have someone come out and look at it. The model number is rf268abrs though and I am not seeing this on the list.

  • Gina Aversano August 19, 2014, 8:09 pm

I bought a Samsung side-by-side refrigerator stainless steel from Costco. Within a few months of owning it, I had to call out a service man. Ice formed behind the fan and the temperature gauge kept flashing.

Within a few months, the problem got worse. I paid over $500 in repair bills and had no resolution. The service man said he didn’t know what was wrong with my refrigerator.

Within a year of owning this refrigerator, the doors would not close properly (they popped open). My food spoiled. I began to store my refrigerated items in the freezer..which did not freeze but was at least cold.

Eventually, I had to borrow ice chests and buy a new refrigerator. The Samsung was pure JUNK. I bought it because it looked nice. In the end it was a beautiful lemon.

Against my advice, my daughter bought a Samsung refrigerator and has nothing but problems with it. No more Samsungs for either of us!

  • Latrice Williams August 21, 2014, 7:31 pm

I purchased my RS265TDBP on October 3, 2012. It stopped cooling the first time on October 20, 2012. Repairman came out, couldn’t find a problem. He recharged it and filled it with Freon. By January 2013, out again. I have had the same repair made about nine times in less than two years. Lucky for me, I purchased an extended warranty.

  • Eda Pittman August 22, 2014, 1:00 pm

Add me to the law suit. I purchased the Samsung 18 CU FT RF197ACBP/XAA floor model from Sears in Oakland, CA. Over $600 on 2/4/2014. I had an extended warranty with my Bank since I charge it on my credit card, but that just expires. The freezer is OK but the lettuce cripper was frozen and full of ice. I put a bath towel in the bottonm where the cripper should hold produce. I took the drawers out because they are alway full of water. I defrost the Samsung, cleaned it out and every day after work and in the morning I check for water and put another towel in where the drawers should be. Does someone have Samsungs phone number because SEARS say they did not have it. ADD ME TO THE LAWSUIT. Samsung should NOT be making refrigerators, and Sears should NOT be selling them. I did not get the manual with my purchase. Who buy a refrigerator and it work for 2 years. This is UNACCEPTABLE. TH IS NO WAY TO TREAT A CUSTOMER OF 25 YEARS. GUESS WHERE I WON’T BUY MY NEXT REFRIGERATOR AND GUESS WHAT BRAND I WON’T BUY. PLEASE ADD ME TO THE LAW SUIT

  • George Weiser August 22, 2014, 5:49 pm

I need added to this lawsuit. I have the Samsung RS261MDBP and the freezer leaks water inside at the back and freezes up like a block of ice at the bottom of the freezer. It also leaks water out onto the floor. Very annoying!!

My Samsung French Door Refrigerator has the same
    Problem concerning water/ice collecting under
The crisper drawers. The back of the refrigerator
Freezing, the thermostats saying it was 38 degrees
Although it was 55 degrees. We have had this problem throughout
The two years we have owned it.
We have had extreme difficulty finging any company
To work on it. Our story sounds exactly like several of the complaints.
Please add me to the class action suit.
We are tried of dealing with it.
It has frozen up again only weeks after we thought
    It was finally corrected.
    Help!!

  • S Fooa August 24, 2014, 10:34 am

Please add me to class action law suit ,my fridge Model RS265TDRS/ XAA Nov 2011 always have ice built up at fan on fridge side not on freezer side, defrost just work fine , 5 time so fan this year, I remove the fan caver to remove the ice , mistake design , add a cut off temp solenoid valve at high pressure line at fridge and keep fan running all times or timer few more minute from ice built up, same issue from other model for few years?

  • Laura Galletti August 25, 2014, 7:37 am

I too am experiencing the same problems with my Samsung refrigerator(model RF261B). It has been just two years and fridge is currently at 61 degrees. Had to defrost the back of refrigerator several times-lous noises from fan-water in vegetable draws-lack of ice. By the way-the internal temperature reading is inaccurate. It reads 37 degrees when the temp is actually 61 degrees ! All food spoiled !
    Please include me in suit.

  • Rakesh August 25, 2014, 2:55 pm

I have a cooling issue with the model RS267TDRS/XAA. It is 20 Months old.
It gave a crackling noise whenever the doors are opened.,
The temperature reading i set was -2 and 34F, but my milk and other perishable food went waste Twice . I switched off the refrigerator, unplugged and plugged it back and the temperature showed as 39F and 70F.I activated Power cool and Power Freeze and after 12 hrs the temperature showed 40F and 34F, which looks like the issue is shifted to my freezer ?? Called Samsung and asked if there is any recall for this model, they said none. Calling for a repair guy to come check for $100. This is ridiculous especially when there are so many people calling with same issues.

  • F Columbus August 25, 2014, 4:18 pm

Please add me to the class action lawsuit, having the same problems with ice buildup on behind back panel. Three different repairs and continues to happen. Continue to lose food and money and Samsung acts as if they have no knowledge of this issue.

  • bee broadhead August 25, 2014, 10:31 pm

I have the same problem . Water getting into the vegetable bins and now I see water under the refrigerator. I already called for repair twice. I wish I’ve never bought this refrigerator.

  • Fred Ross August 26, 2014, 12:37 pm

I have a 2009 Samsung Model 26AEBP refrigerator. I have to remove water and ice from shelf under veg baskets every 20 to 30 days. The last repairperson gave me a quote of $500 to $600 for repairs. He advised me to junk it and buy a new unit. I can’t believe any one would sell a peace of junk that needs to be junked in five years.

  • Kathy Sullivan August 26, 2014, 8:36 pm

Please include me in the class action lawsuit. I have the samsung refrigerator and am having frozen coil problems.

  • Robert Baker August 27, 2014, 7:44 pm

    Aloha,
Been on hold w/ Samsung for 20 minutes now. I have a Samsung
RF26VABBP refrigerator. I has frozen over about once a month or more since I bought it in 2009 and seems to be getting worse. It starts in the Freezer under the refer. You can hear a fan clicking when it’s freezing up. Get ALL your food on ice ASAP or into a neighbors refer/freezer right away as the refer will also fail. When the clicking stops it means it’s been totally blocked by ice! If it happens at night, your food is spoiled by morning.
I guestimate that over $2000.00 worth of food has been lost. We also had to change our cooking.
We can no longer stock up on food from Costco or take advantage of store discounts. The on line self help doesn’t help. To get it going again we have to unplug it, open the doors place several fans blowing directly into it for 24 hours!
Bought it from Lowes. They were no help at all and I will never shop there again. (We are now calling it “Blows):)
Thanxs for getting the word out! No one here will be renewing our Samsung phones. Tell your friends! get the word out!
I’m up to 40 minutes on hold. feels like 4 hours!

  • Robert Baker August 27, 2014, 8:16 pm

I forgot to ask you to please add me to the lawsuit. Please do.
I’d like to make use of all of the shooting ranges in America! When you get ripped off by these criminals, take the offensive, expensive, shoddily make piece of excrement down to your local range, and make it into a target on the range. Kids are welcome! A great learning Experience! killing a junk Samsung product will make a life long lasting impression on the quality of Samsung products. Hell! Bring the whole family!
Oh! when I finally got a hold of Samsung, they tried to sell me a one year extended warranty for partial parts and labor.
NOT! Screw me once, shame on you. Screw me twice, shame on me!

  • jerry ousley August 28, 2014, 7:56 am

i have the RS2545SH, with the same problem. less than six months after we bought it, the drinking water line would freeze up. the repairman came out and the water bottle was frozen. he replaced sensor . after about 10 days, it was frozen again. the repair came back out and replaced the circuit board. about another 10 days the bottle was again frozen also causing the refrigerator side to cool. is my model refrigerator able to be added to this lawsuit? if so, please add me too.
