Samsung Refrigerator Class Action Lawsuit Complaint Filed Over Alleged Frozen Coil Defect

Samsung Refrigerator Owners File Class Action Lawsuit Complaint Against Samsung Over Alleged Defect That Causes Refrigerator Coils To Freeze Over.

A class action lawsuit has been filed against Samsung Electronics America, Inc. and Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. (hereafter “Samsung” or “Defendants”) in the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey (styled Jeff Weske, Jo Anna Frager and Darryl Myhre v. Samsung Electronics America, Inc. and Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd., Civil Action Case No. 2:10-cv-04811-WJM -MF) alleging, among other things, that Samsung sold refrigerators containing a defect that causes the refrigerators’ coils to freeze over, resulting in the failure of the refrigerator to cool, which has caused consumers to suffer damages for lost groceries, spoilage and repairs, according to class action lawsuit news reports.

The Samsung refrigerator class action lawsuit complaint reportedly alleges that certain Samsung French door, side-by-side and bottom freezer refrigerators (model numbers RF266AASH, RS263BBWP, RB1955SH, RS2533SW, RS267LASH, RS267TDRS, RS2630WW) the refrigerators are designed and manufactured with heated coils that are intended to prevent excess frost from developing in the back of the machine, but instead of preventing frost, the coils allegedly allow frost and ice to build up in the refrigerators until the ice clogs and/or disables the machine’s fans, making it impossible for the fans to work to keep the machine cool.

The Samsung refrigerator coil class action lawsuit complaint is reportedly brought on behalf of the following putative class members, unless otherwise excluded:

All persons or entities residing in the United States who own, or have owned, Samsung refrigerator models RF266AASH, RS263BBWP, RB1955SH, RS2533SW, RS267LASH, RS267TDRS, RS2630WW and/or any other Samsung refrigerator model containing a defect that causes the refrigerator’s coils to ice over and the refrigerator to stop cooling.

    I have:
    Model Number : RF267ABRS/XAA
    Serial Number : 081142BQ600449M

and had the issue identified in this claim. Had to pay for repairs on April 1, 2013 – here we are a year later and that part failed too. Just had the repairman out last night to fix the same issue. Please add me to this lawsuit.

We have had nothing but problems with our Samsung. From it constantly freezing up where we have to unplug it and a water leak and the leaking water freezing up on the bottom shelf…and the ice maker stopped working. We have had it repaired for over $300 to have stop defrosting a year later AGAIN.

  • Mindy Trinh May 12, 2014, 10:46 am

Please include me in the class action lawsuit! I have had it! The expensive fridge was only 2 yrs when the problems started. I have to dump out all my ices once a week because it makes too much ice and gets backed up, no ice will come out. The coil is rusted. Always expect bits of plastic when dispensing for ice. The ice drops 1/2-1 hour after dispensing it, creating water puddles everywhere! No more Samsung fridge for us!

I have the model# RF26XAEBP and my unit freezes up about every 3 weeks. Samsung sold a faulty product or wont stand behind it.

Could I please be contacted to be enrolled into the lawsuit.
    thanks..tim

I have samsung rf267abrs. I have to defrost frig manually every 3 months. Broke right after warranty. Paid 2600 approx. I have had two service calls. Still broke. Sometimes it won’t stay cold so I loose food overnight. Worst purchase ever. I am actually defrosting it again today. Please contact me to be part of the lawsuit.

  • Pamela Makuch May 17, 2014, 6:30 am

Please add us to this lawsuit.we purchased a samsung french door frig.in 2011 and have issues every since.first the noises sounded almost like an electrical surge. We had this checked out because didn’t want any fires.everything checked out ok.then water started showing up in and under drawers.I was constantly clean it up.This then turned into large ice under drawers and the drawers were frozen to the bottom of frig.I had to chisel away the ice in order to open the drawers. Also my frost free freezer (not) has been cleaned out more times than I can count.I just threw out 2 huge garbage bags full of spoiled food. This isnt the first time believe me.my frig is approx 57 degrees today.Repair man is coming out Wed.We will never purchase another Samsung appliance.Along with the hefty price I have also kept hefty garbage bags in business.pl

Same problem here ..rf217acbp model’. Freezes, clogs drain’ stops cooling’doesnt make ice, will this class action do anything because we have had three Samsung major electronic appliances’ and yup you guessed it all never lasted 2 years. Never again we will buy from them. Thankgod the TV is an LG.

  • Lance Huebner May 17, 2014, 9:16 pm

I have model RF267aash. The ice maker has been replaced twice. Water pools under the select pantry and I can dig enough ice out of the bottom of the freezer every two weeks to fill a cooler. Samsung may think chipping ice from the bottom of the freezer is a new functional ice maker but I don’t. At this point I can’t find a repair service willing to work on the Samsung. Please add my name to any action.

How do I become part of this class action suit??? Same problems, twin cooling system ices up constantly, not holding temp, this has been going on for some time, Lowes no help at all, they just refer you to Samsung directly and they are of no help if you did not purchase their extended warranty.

    • C Norwich June 4, 2014, 9:37 pm

I bought my Samsung Fridge RF263AEBP five years ago from Lowes with four year extended warranty. Last week, the coil froze and the temp got warm, the freezer still freeze. A guy opened the Evaporator and break up ice and thaw the cover and put them back in. He said need to order part. Yesterday I got a mail from Lowes a gift card for a refund! I was surprised cuz I’ve never buy warranty and glad that I did.
This model number should be included class action suit!

Having the same issues with water leaking and freezing under cool select pantry drawer. Happened several times now.

  • Ron Hartwick May 20, 2014, 7:08 pm

Have Samsung side-by-side model RS2534WW with problems enumerated above: clogged refrigerator evaporator drain, constant freezing of evaporator coils, loss of food stuffs, too many repair calls, etc. Happy to join this lawsuit and provide information.

  • Julia Parker May 20, 2014, 7:35 pm

How do I become part of this lawsuit? I am havingnthe same issues. Refrigerator purchased from Lowes, model RS263TDBP. The fridge side will not keep cool. I have to defrost the fridge every 2 months and I have already had the fridge serviced twice. I have thrown away hundreds of dollars of spoiled food over this. I will never purchase from Samsung again!

    • Pryce Joyner May 25, 2014, 3:20 pm

RS263TDBP – Bought in 2010 and fridge stopped cooling. Freezer seems ok so far. Is this the same problem that this lawsuit is about? Can I be included in this. Afraid my food is going to spoil, and we have a full fridge right now.

  • Gina Lim Vu May 22, 2014, 12:24 pm

    Hello;
I purchased a Samsung refrigerator on 2/10/11 and 2 months ago my refrigerator started to act up. The refrigerator is not cool even I have set it at 34 degree F. I have a clean out a puddle of water in the bottom of the frig everyday and the food got rotten very quickly. I have clearned the refrigerator and the freezer side (all the air flow got frozen so I have to remove the ice from them). Yesterday the frig got the 22E error and it stopped running. I would like to be added in the class action lawsuit. Please let me know what I need to do.
    Model RS267TDRS/XAA

    Thank you,
    Gina

  • Diane Cunningham May 22, 2014, 12:54 pm

I have a RS267TDRS and the refrigerator does not cool, freezer is cold, same problem as other owners. A & E Factory Repair said it was the main control board, replaced it in February, repairman melted the ice at the back of the refrigerator. Now it is May, and I have the same problem again. How do I become part of this lawsuit? I have spoken with the Executive customer service division of Samsung, they suggested I buy the extended warranty.

    • David Robinson May 24, 2014, 6:37 pm

I too have had A & E factory service out to my place I don’t think they know what they are doing, also you can never get the same guy 2 times or even talk to him on the phone.I’m going to where I bought my fridge to see if they will stand by their product that they sell to see what they will do for me.

  • Casey May 22, 2014, 8:21 pm

We too fell victim to Samsung. But does not fall within the model numbers that you list. RS261MDWP. Same issues. Ice maker broke twice, bits of plastic in ice. Water on the floor. Had service out – $400.00 to fix. The ice maker broke again only 3 months or so after and they want to charge us all over again for the repair. Now the Refrigerator is not cooling food spoiling. This Unit is only 3 years old. I contacted Samsung and what I was told was it is no longer under warranty and it is OUR responsibility to get the product repaired or purchase an extended warranty. Seriously? Not right at all. The consumers are being taken here and this in not right! This is seriously WRONG!

Bought a French door samsung, had it just about a year and started having problems. Freezes up repeatedly and we’ve thrown away huge amounts of food for our family. We can’t even keep a half gallon of milk good. My last fridge, ge, lasted more than 10 years. Ridiculous. Please add me to the lawsuit!!!!

  • David Robinson May 24, 2014, 6:31 pm

I have a Samsung side by side refrigerator model no.RS261MDRS the same as everyone else in this law suit.I am going thru this problem right now.I’ve had service (authorized)Samsung repairmen here and I’ve had to order 9 different parts so far and these repairmen don’t even know the problem,do they know what they are doing or are they trying to get more money for service calls? I don’t know about you but I pay 130.00 every time someone comes out to service my refrigerator and they leave 15 minutes without fixing the problem.I’m calling the better business bureau and I’m thinking about getting my local news station involved this is plain old bullshit.I’m tired of this,my fridge is less than 2 years old, what a shame something goes wrong that fast. Please contact me and put me on the lawsuit too!

  • Travis Thompson May 25, 2014, 2:33 pm

Was greeted to a warm glass of milk this morning, didn’t notice the temp going down because the temp on the door read the fridge was 38 degrees, unplugged it and plugged it back in and it read 54 degrees. Please add me to this lawsuit.

We have a bottom freezer Samsung refrigerator. We are having the issue with the refrigerator not cooling. If we unplug it and let the coils thaw, it will be ok for a short while, then we start over again.

I would like to be included in the lawsuit.

I own the Samsung model RF267ABRS/XAA and it too has problems within the system that causes the condenser ( surrounded by the heater coil) to freeze up. In our case, the drain below the condenser also freezes and can no longer drain any water. The ice builds up to almost 3/4″ under the entire lower inside shelf. When this does begin to melt, it floods the lower interior of the refrigerator and out onto the floor. This occurs about every 4-6 weeks!! I have to remove the lower tray and chip out the huge chunks of ice as well as trying to contain the water. I am concerned that, among other things, that the plastic can get damaged while trying to chip out the ice. I see on the internet that this is a common problem and folks have tries numerous ways to try and solve it. No luck found so far…

We purchased a Samsung Fridge with bottom Freezer and have had nothing but problems. I have to defrost every couple of months and it continues to build Ice on the freezer back wall and fan makes unbelievable noise. We had to buy another freezer as this one has ruined too much food. I am getting very proficient at taking the freezer apart…not my choice. Place me on the suit as well please.

  • Lori faulkner May 28, 2014, 1:53 pm

Please add me to the lawsuit. Our model RF266ABPN has given us the same problems with water leaking and coils freezing. We have labor and food losses totaling about 3000.00. Our unit was purchased in late 2009 and I am upset that Lowes sold it to us without disclosing all of the complaints about Samsung appliances.

  • Carol Schall May 28, 2014, 2:28 pm

I am having the same type of issues. I have a RS261MDRS side by side. Every 2 days, I have to chip ice from under the bottom freezer drawer or I will have water all over the floor.

I am defrosting it right now to see if it will unclog the drain line.

Please add me to the suit.

  • Pamela Makuch May 29, 2014, 7:07 am

We purchased a samsung model noRF217ACPN. On may 31 2011. We have had nothing but problems with this poor excuse for a refrigerator. Not long after buying this frig. I started noticing water in the crisper drawers.thought I was losing my mind cleaned it up.eventually this ice started freezing. One day I went to open a drawer and had no luck opening it, it was completely frozen to the bottom of the frig.I had to take a knife and chisel a iceberg probably a inch and a half away in order to open it.This continued to spiral out of control.Throwing 100s of $$$ of food out. Also my frost free freezer has been cleaned out more than I can count. (Frost free) NOT! Along with the hefty price we are also keeping hefty garbage bags in business.please include us in this lawsuit.I have not been able to even keep food in this unit at this point in time.Thank you wally and pamela Makuch.

  • Frank Salvador May 29, 2014, 8:03 pm

Yes include me too I have a Samsung RS26IMDWP and is also having the same problem hum noise and Ice build up at back of Freezer.

  • Douglas Gillespie May 30, 2014, 7:29 am

I purchased the RS253BAWW and have ice build up on the coils many times. I have lost hundreds of dollars in food on multiple occasions. Ihave replaced parts only to have the ice problem reappear. I have also repaired the ice maker 3 times. Please add me to the lawsuit.

  • Shirley Tuffly May 31, 2014, 1:22 pm

I purchased my first Samsung RS277ACRS refrigerator in July 2009 (Manufactured June 2009) and in August 2010 it stopped cooling. A Samsung authorized repairman said it was the control board and it would cost $515 to repair, but would not guarantee that the “problem” would be fixed. By that time the warranty had run out. I rented a fridge for 5 months and then decided to buy another (you guessed it) Samsung. Me and my new Samsung RS267TDRS had a wonderful relationship until recently (a little over 3 years) when it started keeping food at 57 degrees (the temperature was set at 38). After reading all your posts it appears to be a universal flaw, so I do not want to spend any money on repairs. Please include me to the lawsuit.

  • Mary May 31, 2014, 2:47 pm

We to are having the same problem with our Samsung refrigerator. From all I have read the class action was in 2010 and is now over. I have been instructed to contact our state attorney general office and file a complaint. If there are a number of other complaints here in Indiana they would perhaps file a class action on our behalf. So if you are from Indiana please contact the AG office.

  • Robert Yuhasz May 31, 2014, 10:44 pm

Purchased A Samsung French door refrigerator (Model # RF263BEAESR/AA) in June, 2012 at HHGregg in Pittsburgh. Have had ice maker problems ever since….7 (seven) service calls so far, and Samsung won’t replace the unit or offer a refund. Did not take the extended warranty, so paid $250 for the first service call 10/2013. No charges for the next six call outs….Same problem. They have replaced all of the parts including the ice bin….! Samsung needs to get out of the major appliance business.

  • Robert Yuhasz May 31, 2014, 10:48 pm

Add me to the lawsuit….Model # RF263BEAESR/AA. Bad ice maker.

  • David Carter June 3, 2014, 5:41 pm

We have the same problem with the coils freezing up, we currently have the issue of the freezer is defrosting and everything has melted. We have water constantly dripping in the floor, we have lost hundreds of dollars worth of food. Have had the repair man out so much we have lost track of it. This refridgerator is a piece of garbage. Will never own another, please add me to this law suit.

    Someone please help us out.

  • Josh g. June 3, 2014, 8:59 pm

I purchased the samsung RFG297HDRS just over two years ago and am experiencing same issues- coils frozen and fan rubbing against – which in turn sounds like a jet engine throughout night.

Also the drawers in this thing broke within the first three months.

At this point I’m just concerned how a company can get away selling defective products – especially with the number of public incidents.

I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER SAMSUNG PRODUCT, AND ENSURE THAT EVERYONE I KNOW IS AWARE OF SITUATION.

Please let me know how I can be added to lawsuit. Absurd.

  • Debra Solley June 4, 2014, 9:06 pm

We purchased our Samsung refrigerator RS267TD in 2010. In March 2013, the fridge started making a loud sound and not staying as cold as it had before. The technicians said that the “r-fan” was defective, covered in ice, and caused the motor to go out. The said that it was not included in the manufacturers warranty and charged us $214. Then today, the fridge started making the same sound again. We would also like to be contacted about being added to this class action suit. We will never buy another Samsung again!

  • C Norwich June 4, 2014, 9:44 pm

I bought Samsung RF263AEBP in 2010 with extended warranty. It started to get frozen in refridge last year, then a month ago the temp 38degrees and flashing. I unplug it for 10 min and replug it, went up to 65 degrees. I called the service (formerly A & E) C & E and they came to thaw the coil. He said need to order part. Yesterday I got mail from Lowes, refund gift card. They said that my refridge is no good. Now I had to buy new one. So disappointed, I thought I love Samsung fridge. UGH This model should be on class action suit too.

  • Brandon Clark June 5, 2014, 7:50 am

We have Samsung RF267ABRS, and have all of the same problems as the other people. Ice build up in circulation holes, ice build up under the pantry tray which has resulted in many clean up of water on the floor.
Samsung needs to be held responsible for the piece of junk that they have sold, and that piece of junk wasn’t cheap.
Please enclude us in the Law Suite……

I have a RS263TD model. The freezer part works fine but the refrigerator part doesn’t get cold enough. We bought it in 2011. Very disapointed that I’m having problems now.

  • Debra Calvert June 9, 2014, 4:01 pm

Bought our Samsung refrigerator at Best Buy, Model number is RS2534VQ. Exact same problem of the freezer working fine, but the refrigerator side will ice up and not cool properly. Samsung refrigerators are a pile of junk. I think if we all took some time out of our day to go park ourselves at the closest Samsung retail outlet and talk to customers shopping for a refrigerator about what junk these are, maybe we would get a faster resolution to this problem. I know I wish I had been warned.

  • Brian L. June 9, 2014, 7:23 pm

Same thing. Water constantly leaks and pools at the bottom. So many issues and a total lack of concern from anyone I’ve spoken with at Samsung. Please include me in the class action lawsuit

  • crissy richman June 9, 2014, 7:51 pm

my Samsung fridge has the same issues, it freezes on the freezer side, but doesn’t get cool on the fridge side. My model number is rs263tdbp…I have tried everything to fix this and have even seen that my coils are a block of ice. I don’t want to pay a pricey amount to have someone come out and diagnose the issue, I have talked to techs and they have said that I need to, at the time, I can’t even go grocery shopping, because all my food spoiled and now my fridge is off, due to this. Please add me to this lawsuit.

  • Ruthie Diharce June 9, 2014, 8:38 pm

    June 9, 2014
Model #RB215LASH. I don’t remember the date this was purchased. The owners Manuel with the dates written on it have been borrowed by our appliance repair guy. This is the worst refridg I have ever had. The ice maker quit working within the first 2 years.
For months water has been pooling in the bottom hydrater drawers & underneath the drawers in bottom of the fridge. This has gone on for months. The freezer quit working a month ago. Our repair guy came out & said he had several customers with same prob. He had to take my owners Manuel to figure out. A week went by & he returned with a new fan. The freezer started wking again. the ice & dripping continued. I pulled the hydrater drawers out to break up the ice & disk up the water like u do every 2 days, & noticed the back wall of fridge is bubbling out from ice that has formed behind it.

  • Donna Perkins June 10, 2014, 3:55 pm

I purchased a Samsung Model RF266ABPN from Lowes in 2010 and have had this same freezing of coils where the refrigerator dept is not cold but the freezer works, I have to thaw it out about every 6-8 weeks, I have had a repair man out 3 times, now I realize the repairman cannot fix this (LEMON) of a refrigerator due to its defective design, please include me in the law suit. Thanks, Donna Perkins

  • Sheila DeBord June 10, 2014, 8:16 pm

I have model #RS265TDRS. I am having the same problem. My Fan will start making noise, then get louder, and then it quits working completely! I have had it for less than 2 years and this is the second time it has froze up and quit working. I am noticing the screw holes filling up with ice on my back panel. Not sure if there is anything you can do with this information. Thanks.

    • Sheila DeBord June 10, 2014, 8:20 pm

Please add me to this lawsuit!

  • Donna Window June 11, 2014, 12:31 pm

We have model #RB217ABPN Samsung refrigerator that collects water in both drawers and then freezes. It also makes a lot of noise when it initially starts running. Please include us in the class action.
We have not experienced any issues until recently but this will influence any consideration for the purchase of another Samsung product!

  • Glen Dillard June 11, 2014, 3:11 pm

I have the Samsung Model RF267AERS , same problems with water pooling and freezing, problems with water dispenser and Ice maker.
Please include me in any class action .

  • Dahlas Ingram June 11, 2014, 8:03 pm

Need to add model rs2545sh to the list. It has the same problem.

  • Elizabeth V June 12, 2014, 12:13 am

I think maybe going for a recall would be faster than class action and more results would be gained for the consumer.

This is not just a Samsung issue. I have a GE french door bottom freezer having the same issue. As it turns out, I learned from a repair guy, that Samsung made my refrigerator. I was working on it tonight trying to de-thaw the back panel and removed the Insulation Motor damper, checked the part number and sure enough, it is a Samsung PN. So this issues goes beyond Samsung will also apply to many of the GE models as well.
    Count me in!

We have a samsung fridge that stopped working. First the ice maker stopped then a few days later the freezer stopped cooling. Went on vacation & came back to rotten food in both the fridge & freezer. Called samsung. They sent us a technician that said the compressor was bad but he couldn’t fix it because he was having “back surgery” . They sent us another technician that agreed the compressor was bad but they’d have to order us a part. Took 4 days to get the part. Technician came out on a Saturday morning ( we’ve now gone 2 weeks without a fridge at this point). Technician took over 3 hours to replace the compressor. Everything worked great…. For 3 days that is. Called again tonight & Samsung said a tech would contact us in 1-2 business days. What the hell is that?! Shouldn’t they send someone ASAP as it was replaced under warranty & didn’t even last a week?! So fed up with the terrible customer service & run around. We have lost several hundreds of dollars in food, missed time at work & nothing has been resolved. Worst product & customer service ever. How to we join the lawsuit?

I have the Samsung RF266AEPN/XAA. Owned it for 4yrs.I noticed the ice buildup in the in back of fridge about a year ago, but temp was holding, everything seemed to be working. Then a few weeks ago, I noticed items in fridge seemed warm, but temp was holding at 38F. I sprayed hot water on the slots in back of fridge where I saw the ice. Seemed to work for the a few weeks. Two weeks ago, fridge not maintaining temp-varies from 47-56F!!! So disgusted as we paid around $1700. We are still under the five year warranty for sealed system, but Samsung won’t tell me if my pblm would be covered, and want to send a tech out for $75, which is not happening!!! After watching people post very good You-tube videos, my husband I decided to unplug unit last night and let it defrost. Food in coolers. Plugged back in this am. Doesn’t seem to be cooling very fast. UGH!!! Preparing for my next step to be buying a plain jane basic fridge model that will probably last me 20yrs!!!
Please add me to class action lawsuit also-serial#JJ074GBZ301089K

We Purchased a Samsung Model # RF217ACBP less than 2 years ago. We have had the freezer ice up but the worst problem is the refrigerator ices up on the back at the cooling vents and our food all spoils. We have defrosted it and within a week or two it ices up again. It does not stay cold.

How do we become a part of this lawsuit?

  • Suzette Connelly June 16, 2014, 11:58 am

Ever since I have had my Samsung Refrigerator I have had the same problems…even until today. I called Samsung many times, I have lists lots of food and having to defrost my refrigerator every 2-3 months. My husband and I are fed up. Samsung is telling me that I will be responsible for fixing this..NOT…I shouldn’t have to since the problem has to do with the product. So they called today to make an apt. Well the apt is Friday, my refrigerator will b e broken down before that…It’s frozen and making lots of noise…Please add me to this

  • Steve and Judy Toth June 16, 2014, 3:50 pm

We have 2 Samsung Refrigerators. One is a Model RS265TDRS/XAA and the other is RSG307AARS/XAA. BOTH refrigerators have this problem; where the coil inside the refrigerator behind the back panel ices up and the fan stops turning. The RSG307AARS/XAA was fixed by Samsung (we were 3 weeks out of warranty and my wonderful wife got Samsung to cover it). The RS265TDRS/XAA still has the problem and is now unplugged and sitting empty (we have a 20 year old GE holding the food that STILL works great!). PLEASE add us to this class action law suit! BTW…if you search the internet for “Samsung noise refrigerator” you will even find a YouTube video that shows how to fix the problem!

  • Scott June 16, 2014, 6:37 pm

    Re: Model # RB217ABPN
    S/N# A10442BS300573 P

We are having the same issues: noise, ice maker making too much ice, water collecting in the produce drawers and insufficient cooling for the refrigerator. Sometimes the temperatures reaches 55 degrees, Yesterday, the repairman thought it was a bad sensor and frozen drain line/bad coil. Before he could work on it, it needed to be defrosted which takes about a week. So we had to rent a cheap refrigerator will we defrost the Samsung. Seeing all the complaints about Samsung products, I will never buy another product. Please add us to this class action suit!

I’ve had the worst experience with the samsung twin cooling refrigerator. I’ve only had it 2 years and it has had numerous problems over the last year. The customer service I have received through Samsung has been the most disappointing and upsetting. I have spoken to them since June 4 (8 days from now) 8 different times. On Friday, a supervisor was supposed to call me back, and no one ever did. Today, I have spoken to 3 different people and they are all telling me something different. My refrigerator has been deemed unrepairable and Samsung said they would replace it, however, they are stringing me along. Telling me one price one minute, and another price another minute. I have given them the receipt, a list of all of the repairs done this year, and have been more than pleasant. I have 3 kids under the age of 5 and we’ve been living without a refrigerator for 8 days. No one seems concerned. There is no integrity. I was also told I would get $200 for spoiled groceries, but now they’ve gone back on their word here as well. A family of 5 here, and 3 times this year we’ve had to throw out our groceries. I’m very disappointed with Samsung. If this issue ever gets resolved, I will NEVER buy any Samsung product again. Whether it’s an appliance, phone, etc. Poor customer service and poor quality product.

  • Karla Samuelson June 17, 2014, 9:19 am

Oh.. and to add to that.. the refund and exchanges department was supposed to call me yesterday, and go figure, they didn’t. They only can do “outgoing” calls. So, here I am on hold again for 30 minutes waiting to talk to a supervisor. Please include me in this lawsuit. I have everything well documented that has occurred since its problems started.

  • Frances cottone June 17, 2014, 6:51 pm

We are having the same issue with the coils freezing up and water leaking from underneath . We tried contacting samsung but they were no help. This has been a non stop issue for the past year and is now becoming more frequent. How do we get added to the lawsuit?

  • Marge Metzinger June 18, 2014, 2:06 pm

Have Samsung RF266AEPN 4 yrs old, same problem, freezing up inside of back panel where the fan is, also found water standing & part of it froze on bottom drawer. Been going on for almost a year, but just like one of the other reviews temp was holding then, until about 3 weeks ago doesn’t feel as cold, got back from vacation (June 16 at night) fan was make a loud noise, & lot of ice on back inside panel again, had to defrost again just what I wanted to do that night after a 17 hour drive. After reading all the reviews I will never buy Samsung again. Serial # JJ074GBZ100404L. Would like to be added to the lawsuit.

  • Karen Gantt June 18, 2014, 9:36 pm

I brought a Samsung model RF266AASH about 6 years to match my newly remodeled kitchen and I have had cooling problems also. It finally stopped cooling all together. When I contacted Samsung the answer was for me to pay for a repairman, they recommended. Unfortunately, I couldn’t afford a repairman. However, fortunately I kept the old GE refrigerator and it is still working strong. The Samsung is still in my kitchen but not working. Please add me to the lawsuit. Thanks!

  • Carol June 19, 2014, 5:26 pm

Add model # RF217ACWP to the list of over-freezing, non-cooling models.

  • Ollie Woodard June 19, 2014, 7:56 pm

I have read the above complaints written two years ago. My Samsung refrigerator has the water in crisper drawer problem and freezing coil problem. What happened with the class action? What it the fix for these Samsung Fridges?

  • Harry June 21, 2014, 12:04 pm

I have one of their piece of junk also, same issue as well. It seems each one of you have to initiate a claim or file in your state so attorneys know whom will be in on a class action. You are in by default & have to opt-out if you want to sue independently.

Just made 2 years and the same issues so add me.

  • Thomas Kelley June 23, 2014, 10:19 pm

Model RF267AARS; Nothing more to add here….same problems as all above. Refridgerator repairman told me about this class action suit and all the problems with Samsung. Informed me he wont even bother to fix them; told me he would be doing me a disservice to fix it as it would be no more than putting a bandaide over a festering infected wound. Samsung should pay.

  • Victoria Parrish June 24, 2014, 12:41 pm

I have has numerous problems with my Samsung model RS267TPDN since purchase in August 2011 – one month after purchase the freezer door malfunctioned. In June 2013 the rubber seal inside refrig door expanded and had to be replaced. July 2013 freezing up inside of back panel hitting fan and now again June 2014 same problem. I have learned a hard lesson and will never by another Samsung anything. Please include me in this lawsuit.

  • Christopher Marolt June 25, 2014, 10:44 pm

I just had the same issue on my refrigerator purchased in August 2011 model RS263TDBP rated number one by Consumer Reports!! Absolutely pissed that it just broke. The refrigerator side is not cooling anymore while the freezer is fine. I’m having it serviced tomorrow to find out what kind of god awful price they’re going to charge. I wouldn’t go so far as to say I wouldn’t buy from Samsung ever again considering I own almost all Samsung products. This is the first to not be a quality one.

Our piece of crap Samsung was RF266/AEPN. Purchased September 2011 from Best Buy. Stopped cooling June 2013. Over a month not working thanks Samsung and repair companies they use. $400 repair cost. Paid to have fix. Replaced circuit board and cooling fan. Stopped cooling again three weeks ago. Not spending again for surely it will stop working a year after repair. Samsung refuses restitution; only willing to set up out of warranty repair appointment. Garbage company. Was offered $800 last year, which in hindsight should have taken. Who could imagine it would be this bad! Would love restitution through this Class Action suit.

Model #RS265TDRS…. Bought this Samsung fridge in January 2012 from Lowe’s and June 2014 it started making noise on the Fridge side and then stopped cooling on that side. Freezer part works fine but fridge side was not cooling. Called Samsung and they said it was out of warranty so I had to pay out of pocket to have it fixed. I called the authorized service center and it costs $130 for labor + parts which is extra. Crappy refrigerator within 2 years thing stops working . Add me onto this law suit.

  • Jay Hoyt June 28, 2014, 2:59 pm

I bought a Samsung model RF266AEWP Sept 2011. I thought it was a very nice refrigerator but less than 3 years later I have the same icing problem I spoke with a Samsung rep online chat # LTK1125601088823X I got no where except to send me to a service rep. This was to make an appointment for a technician to visit to figure out my problem. Samsung has known about this problem for years and ignores it. Samsung should have to buy every faulty one back with a replacement of my choosing. I for one am boycotting Samsung everything….

  • kimberly June 29, 2014, 12:11 pm

Same problem as everyone else, add me to the lawsuit.
